As we get closer to the dates of our annual district conference, I want to extend another personal invitation to consider attending our family gathering. Christian leadership is a privilege. We are called to serve His church and reach those who are far from Jesus - with the Gospel. Leadership is about love. We must love Jesus more than anyone else, love people who are within God’s family, and love those who may reject, refute or despise us. This year’s conference will inspire the leaders of your church to accomplish the great commission and the great commandment with new and innovative methods. I’m looking forward to meeting some of the lay-leaders and ministry volunteers from your church. Please extend this invitation to your ministry leadership.

Our next district network conference is going to be hosted by Broadway Church in the beautiful city of Vancouver, on April 8th to 10th, 2019.  We’re so thankful that Pastor Darin Latham and the leadership team at Broadway have extended an invitation to us.

We have invited some great plenary speakers to shape our thinking around the missional priority of Church and Clergy Health.  Our guests will include the teaching and preaching ministry of Karl Vaters (Teaching Pastor of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship and author of “The Grasshopper Myth” and “Small Church Essentials”), Paul Bartlett (Lead Pastor of Lighthouse Church in Australia), and Shaila Visser (National Director for ALPHA Canada) as they help us to focus upon our priority of church and leadership health.

During our conference, we will also feature a panel discussion with some incredible leaders, along with our business sessions.  We are also offering special Children’s sessions, which will run concurrently to our plenary gatherings.

Our theme this year is: PREVAIL.   This is based on the scripture found in Romans 8:37b “we are more than conquerors through him who loved us”.  While we may live and serve in some challenging times, prevailing leadership is the result of empowerment by God’s Holy Spirit and strategic mobilization of His supernatural resources.

We are looking forward to seeing you at our district conference in Vancouver.  Please register early, so we can make the appropriate preparations for your time with us.

Karl Vaters is the author of two books about small churches.

On his blog Pivot, he writes about Innovative Leadership from a Small Church Perspective for ChristianityToday.com several times a week. He’s also the founder of NewSmallChurch.com, a ministry that encourages, connects and equips innovative small church pastors.

Karl’s heart is to help pastors of small churches (up to 90 percent of us) find the resources to lead well, and to capitalize on the unique advantages that come with pastoring a small church – something virtually every pastor will spend at least some of their ministry years doing. He also believes that big and small churches can and should work together more often – to the benefit and blessing of everyone.

Karl has been in pastoral ministry for over 30 years. He is the teaching pastor of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, a healthy small church in Orange County, California, where he has ministered for over 25 years with his wife, Shelley.
